Brimstones

A flash of yellow golden wing,
In the April sun, dancing;
We welcome the good news they bring,
Heralding the spring.

Though they seem so delicate,
All winter long they hibernate,
Waiting for the right climate
To wake up, fly off and find a mate.

They emerge early, fluttering here
And there and everywhere,
The first butterflies to appear,
Spreading to all their golden cheer.
