Experimenting with Tetrameter

My son suggested I try out
A poem with even meter throughout,
So here am I a-sat in the sun
To see if the process can be fun!
I really ought to have a plan,
A subject even, rather than

Rambling vaguely line after line,
Waiting for some sort of sign,
Seeking inspiration for
Greater purpose rather more
Meaningful, not such a bore!
So far I have tried to lick
Tetrameter iambic

In stanza one and then on to
A standard tetra in verse two
And back again for stanza three,
But do you care? Or do you see
That sad to say, this poem is
Almost completely meaningless?
