Summer Drizzle

Summer Drizzle

Sunday 30th July, 2023

Great British summer:
Gloomy grey,
Fine rain.

Cagouled damp tourists
Amble about
Ambivalently.

Beaches become barren
Empty deserts,
Wilderness.

Distant scenic vistas
Mist-obscured,
Monotone.

Ice cream vans
Valiantly advertise
Hot dogs.

Café windows misted,
Steaming clothing
Condensation.

Everyone unsettled,
Watching, waiting,
Wondering…

Will the weatherman
Forecast fair for
Tomorrow?
